We will not concern ourselves explicitly with group theory. The remark that a group is a quantity of items, is sufficient between which completely determined relations exists for you. Point groups of symmetry consist thus of symmetry operations.
With the help of the point groups of symmetry the molecules can be classified concerning their symmetry characteristics.
