From the six symmetry operations of the NH 3 (E, C 3 , C 3 2 , s v (1) , s v (2) , s v (3) ) a point group of symmetry called C 3v exist. Generally C nv defines a point group of symmetry, which orders from the following symmetry operations:

E, C n , C n 2 ,C n 3 ..., C n n-1 , s v (1) , s v (2) ..., s v (n)

These symmetry operations are produced by the symmetry elements C n (reference axle) and n mirror planes s v .

We remind you again: The groups of points of symmetry do not consist of the symmetry elements, but from of these produced symmetry operations. (comparisons also step 109 )
