We want to regard the exchange of the h-atoms in the H₂0-molecule with the reflection on one level still somewhat more near. The molecule changes with the reflection from the arrangement 1 into the arrangement 2.

If we regard the molecule before the reflection, then the eyes close and open these only after executed reflection again for some instants, then we are not to be decided in a the position whether a reflection took place or not. Since the H-atoms are not colored in our figure marked in reality as, we cannot differentiate the developed arrangement 2 _{of the H} 2 0-Molekuels from the original arrangement 1. Both arrangements are not identical, because it took place an exchange of the H-atoms. They are however indistinguishable and as equivalent arrangements are defined.
