C 3 produces C3,C32, C33 = E
S6 produces S6 , S6 2 = C3 , S6 3 = i, S6 4 = C3 2 , S6 5 , S6 6 = E
C2 produces C2 , C2 2 = E, for C2 (1) , C2 (2) ,C2 (3)
s d produces s d , s d 2 = E for s d (1) , s d (2) , s d (3)
i produces i, i 2 = E

There are thus 12 different symmetry operations:

E, C 3 , C 3 2 , S 6 , S 6 5 , i, C 2 (1) , C 2 (2) ,C 2 (3) , s d (1) , s d (2) , s d (3)

Out these 12 operations D3d is called this point group of symmetry.
The symmetry operations of the group of Dnd become general from the symmetry elements C n , S 2n , C 2 (n times) and s d (n times) produces.
